Right at the exit of the “Amazonia Times” exhibition, there is an area where visitors can participate in a game in virtual reality, where they experience, as an avatar of an indigenous person, this gathering of food in the forest, fishing, gathering fruits, gathering mushrooms. … Then, he returns to his community and needs to light a bonfire to roast the fish… And indigenous chants are heard at the end of this experience. We were inspired by a report by the indigenous leader Floriza Yanomami, who visited the museum in 2019, brought by Noemia, a researcher at INPA. And we asked Floriza what was the moment that made her community the happiest, and she said it was precisely when members of her community returned from the forest with food, when they sang and danced all night long. Inspired by Floriza Yanomami’s story, together with the people from Magic, which is a computer graphics school in the United States, we built this virtual reality game that brings this immersion into the Amazon environment, valuing indigenous knowledge.
